Tiger and Wolf Den Meeting Monday, Nov 9th, 6pm
Wow this past month has gone by fast. I hope all the boys are working on their achievements and doing well. Bring your books and we'll check off what they have accomplished so far and make a new list for belt loops. We have a few for some of the boys that we know have completed items.
I have contacted the VFW and they have assured me that they will be there this time. They will be doing a Flag Ceremony and presenting our boys with their very own Flag for the Den.

Christmas Ornaments for Charity
Christmas Ornaments were passed out at the pack meeting. Each ornament had a small gift for the Scouts to buy. The gift is to be wrapped and the ornament tag placed on the top. They need to be turned in at the next Pack Meeting on Nov. 30. These gifts will go to needy families in our school. I grabbed a few extras for the ones who were not at the Pack Meeting.

Cub Scout Field Day Saturday, Oct. 17th, 2009

Oh what a day! We all had to get up early and be at the Donut Bank on St. Joe at 6:15. Amazingly everybody was full of energy and before we left the Donut Bank, full of donuts!! and coffee..............
As we arrived at Field Day we could see all the stations ready and set up to go. It was a crisp morning to say the least, but everyone was well dressed for the occasion.
First we headed to the Can You Canoe station. Here we learned about Canoeing and played a Tug O War Game. We learned about High Adventure Canoe Trips that we can all go on when we cross over and get to be Boy Scouts.
Next we were guest at the Boy Scout Camp Site. We learned about all the equipment that is needed for a camp out and got to make S'mores.
Our next stop was the Awareness Center where we did exercises that showed us how our minds process information and tested how good our memory and communication skills are.
At the Tug O War station we showed just how strong our boys are. They even beat the parents in Tug O War!
The Cub Cars were a hit and we only had a few crazy drivers to go off course.
At the BB Gun station we learned about safety and proper procedures when on a firing range. We've got a few crack shooters in the group.
Archery was next and we did really well. We learned safety at this station also and followed orders very well.
The obstacle course was no challenge for our group. They were up and over the wall in a flash. The Monkey Bridge and Tires were a little harder but we were quick to get through these. The Tunnels and the hale bales finished off the course.
For the Closing Ceremony there were hundreds of Cub Scouts, Leaders and Families gathered around all the Pack Flags. We all received our badges, which will be presented at the next Pack Meeting - Oct 26th, 6:30 at South Terrace School. Pack 320 won the Spirit Award. Maybe next year we can put together a routine and be at the top of competition for the Spirit Award.

9/23/09 News
We had a great time at the Kunstfest. I would like to thank all the families and kids who came and helped run the booth. Traci will soon have all the numbers together and we will know how we did. I know we probably didn't make thousands of dollars, but I feel it was a good learning experience for all of us.
This weekend is the Popcorn Sales Kickoff. Hopefully you have received your order froms in the mail. If you have not by Friday 9/25, please let me know. I'm going out to the Scout Center and will pick up extras if I can.
You can begin selling this weekend. You do not have to collect money when you get the orders. Money can be collected when the popcorn is delivered.
If you sell 15 orders the you will get a free Coleman Lantern. Those selling 15 or more must turn them immediately to Dana or Toni so that we can get the prizes for the boys.
Sunday, Sept. 27th is the Autumnfest Parade in Poseyville. We are going out of town and will not be there. Toni would like for any boys that would like to march in the parade to meet at the Post Office in Poseyville at 1:30.
Our next meeting is a Pack Meeting on Monday, September 28th at 6:30 at South Terrace. We will have sign- up sheets for the Popcorn Sales at Rural King at this meeting.
Our Den will meet again on Oct 12th and we are adding the Tiger Cubs to our group. They cannot find anyone to be their leaders, so we are going to adopt them and help them through the trail to becoming Wolves. At this Den Meeting we will be proud to have the Color Guard from VFW Post 1114 Evansville come to show us the proper presentation, care and folding of our American Flag. Amber Sailer is bringing refreshments this month. (Thanks Amber)
Also in October we will begin our Go See It trips. I'll notify everyone about these at a later time.
I have a blog where all this information is posted along with any other thing I think is interesting. I will be keeping this up to date with all our activities and meetings. I also post a lot of free activities the boys can do on their own and also things that can be done as a family. I'm always searching for free or low cost things to do on weekends.
http://pack390.blogspot.com/
I can add anyone to the blog to contribute posts. If you would like to write on the blog about your son's activities or accomplishments, please let me know and I'll be happy to add you as an author. It's very easy to make a post and I can show you how.

September Den Meeting
We had our 1st Den Meeting tonight.
The meeting was called to order by Den Leader Dan. We said the Pledge of Allegiance and we all said the Cub Scout Promise. We talked about the meaning of the Cub Scout Promise while we did our Cub Scout Handshakes. We also said the Law of The Pack and talked about it's meaning and Webelos - We'll be loyal Scouts. We ended this portion of the meeting by doing our Cub Scout Salute and the Cub Scout Motto - Do Your Best.
We reviewed our rules for the meetings.
Be polite.
Listen and show respect to your leaders, helpers and other adults.
No leaving the gym without permission.
Learn Den Master Dan's Hand Signals and follow them.
Ask questions if you don't understand something.
Assistant Den Leader Dana talked with the boys about personal safety and also online safety. We had a short what-if session and the boys answered what you should if something where to make you uncomfortable or that you felt was wrong.
Den Leader Dan lead the boys in Feats of Skill. They all did really well and worked so hard. They didn't know they were working they were having so much fun tumbling on the mats.
Assistant Den Leader Dana read the story - Brave Little Indians while the boys did hand gestures and foot stomping to accent the story. It was really cute and they did a great job on this also. We might even use it for a skit.
Time to cool down and have a snack of grapes and string cheese.
Our Make-It Activity this meeting was to make Leaf Suncatchers with clear contact paper. The boys learned to identify the leaves and seeds of various trees. Oak, Maple, Gum and Pine. They placed them on their sticky contact paper and added a ribbon to top it off.

We closed the meeting with the Living Circle.
We hope to see you again at the next meeting 10/12/09. We will be honored to have the Color Guard from VFW Post 1114 teach us about the care and respect of our American Flag.

A Little Boy
A little boy, all dressed in blue
just searching for something to get into ~
Those great big eyes look so innocent and shy,
but we know there’s more to this little guy!
His overalls all have holes in the knees,
and he pretends he’s a pirate on the seven seas.
He likes to build castles in the sand,
and imagines he’s a knight in a mystical land.
He jumps in every puddle,
catches bugs and digs for worms in the dirt;
He jumps right up and back to action,
even after getting hurt.
And when he captures a stray and you have to say “No”,
but you don’t know exactly where to start…
You look at that boy and realize you can’t ~
because he’s also captured your heart!
just searching for something to get into ~
