Scouts and Jeff Gordon, Start Your Engines!
Our 100th Anniversary Celebration is shifting into high gear with some help from Silver Buffalo Jeff Gordon! As part of the annual “Scout Day at the Races” at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, eight Cub Scouts from the BSA’s Flint River Council had the opportunity to meet, “talk shop,” and race their Pinewood Derby cars with the four-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion.
Gordon joined the Scouts in a pinewood derby competition that was filmed by Fox Sports today. It’s part of a story scheduled to air this Sunday as part of Fox Sports’ pre-race coverage of the Kobalt Tools 500. Tune in to watch! If you can’t watch live, set your DVR because it’s going to be fun. Prerace coverage begins at 12 p.m. ET. On Saturday and Sunday, prior to the Camping World Trucks and Sprint Cup Series races, Scouts will also present the colors during the prerace flag raising ceremonies. Any Scout in uniform will be admitted for free to Saturday’s events at the speedway.
